This Week at the Farm

We are looking forward to seeing you next week at ICF, things are shaping up for a great summer!

Planting season is in full swing at ICF as we race to get as much in the ground as we can before pickups start next week.  This week we planted cherry tomatoes (Sungold, Jasper, Sunrise Bumblebee, Chocolate Sprinkles and others), broccoli, basil, sweet potatoes, eggplant, hot peppers (jalapeno, cayenne, shishito, serrano, habenero and more) our weekly salad greens.  First plantings of watermelon and cantaloupe are right behind.

Our winter squash crop went in the ground at our leased fields in Hinesburg this week, completing our flood-safe trifecta along with onions and potatoes.  With the butternut, delicata, acorn, and their kin planted out in the fields, we are looking forwards to a summer share featuring these crops later in the season.

With all of the crop growth, the weeds aren't far behind, and we are continuing with our tractor weeding, hoeing and hand weeding, which has been tricky in the wet, cool weather we've had.  Our fall transplants like Brussels sprouts and cabbage are getting going in the greenhouse and in our unheated tunnels our tomatoes, cucumbers and sweet peppers are calling on us to prune and trellis constantly.

As of this week our full summer staff of 14 is aboard, with two brand new team members and many cherished returning staff.  We'll see you at pickup!

Picking Up Your Share

Picking up your share is easy and is a fun adventure for all ages. Some of the attractive features of our CSA are the fact that members get to visit the farm, get into the fields, and select their own produce. We don't pre-pack boxes of vegetables you may not enjoy.

The vegetable selections on the tables are washed and ready for your selections. Signs are posted for every item indicating how much of each to take based on your share size. Scales are available for the items needing to be weighed.

For pick-your-own crops (PYO), items and quantities are indicated on the chalk board at the pole barn.

For more details, and important contact details, see our Membership Guide here.

Order weekly Trent's Bread and Does' Leap goat cheese here.
We'll have a few extras of each for sale each week.
We are still looking for a local egg supplier.

Maple Wind Farm Meat

Maple Wind Farm (MWF) is pleased to continue bringing our pasture raised meats to the ICF community making a convenient stop to get local meats with your organic vegetable pickup.

MWF will be delivering any online pre-orders to your regular ICF pickup location on Mondays and Thursdays. VERY IMPORTANT! If you do not pick up your order on the requested day it will be donated to the ICF staff (they do not have freezer storage to keep for a later pickup)

Order deadline is 7:00 a.m. on your delivery day or the same if you need to change your delivery. Best method is  orders@maplewindfarm.com  or alternatively, voice mail at 802-322-3739
